McWethy TMC – Renovations & Additions

The Troop Medical Clinic at Ft. Sam Houston was demolished to the structural frame and rebuilt, providing a modern facility that employed state-of-the-art technology and enhanced functionality. The design solution focused on flexibility, flow, future expansion, life-cycle costs, sustainability, enhanced functionality, code compliance, and aesthetic appeal.

As part of the enhanced functionality, the clinic was designed around the Group Home model of healthcare, which greatly improved staffing efficiencies, resulting in a higher level of patient care. The reorganization of the interior functions allowed the creation of additional offices and exam rooms to meet future staffing and operational needs.

Departments within the clinic include Troop Medicine, Troop Readiness, Optometry, Immunizations, Audiology, Behavioral Health, Pharmacy, Radiology, and Laboratory.
